We spent last week on our annual Urbanek family vacation in Minnesota. It was a great time filled with family and fun. We were in Walker, MN on Lake Benedict. (It connects to Leech Lake) On Monday night the kids and Grandma Jan treated us to "An Enchanted Evening" They dressed up and served us appetizers and drinks, followed by a nice sit down meal, and it ended with desserts and dancing on the beach by the lake. This first picture is from the end of that night when Grandma Jan led the kids into the lake to dance in their fancy clothes. They totally loved it!
Bode all dressed up for the evening.
Three very handsome dudes!
Dancing on the beach for us while we ate our desserts.
A toast during our beautiful dinner!
We were each escorted into the dining room by one of the lovely hosts or hostesses.
Drew took his job as a server very seriously!
He did stop to sample the food as well though
The hot tub was a popular spot throughout the week, even though it was hot outside!
Drew loved racing on the boat! He always had to drive as well!
Bode really enjoyed playing in the sand!
He's also quite the observer.
Drew could live on the beach.
Treasure City. We have to stop at this junk store every year and Drew has to ride the school bus every year. This was Bode's first experience.
A few more pictures from the Enchanted Evening.
Bode ran around the house in his walker, and he usually had that spatula in his hand!
Papa and Drew tuckered out on Thursday!
Drew caught a rock bass all by himself one afternoon. Joe and Dean had him with them on the boat and he was casting and reeling in while they were fishing. He told Joe, "Daddy, I got one!" and Joe thought he probably had a weed and took it from him to help. Joe realized there really was a fish on there and gave it back to Drew to reel in! Pretty impressive for a three and a half year old! He didn't however, really want to hold it for a picture, but he toughed it out and smiled to humor me!
Family pictures!
It was really hard to get Drew to hold still long enough for the pictures. He moved in almost all of them, so I put this one in because it is funny and it shows how hard it is to get him to stand still!
Mark and Jan had these shirts made for vacation. I think they turned out great, especially with the family tree on the back. We had a wonderful time this year and we are already counting down the days until we get to go back again next year. School starts in less than two weeks and Joe started football on Monday. Things are gearing back up here in Tripoli, and we are excited for everything that is yet to come!
